With that amount of time, Europe would be a great choice. In August, stick to the Northern European countries or you’ll be miserable. I went to Norway last August/September and it was amazing. You could kayak the fjords or do a zodiac boat tour, hiking, zip lining…Maybe combine Norway with Denmark? I only passed through Copenhagen on the way to Norway, but I’ve read about how Denmark is fun for kids (and if they like Legos, that’s where they were invented!). Ireland is wonderful — DH and I went there 5 years ago and kept thinking that DS would have loved it too. Castles, sheep, friendly people…You could combine with a trip to Scotland. Europe (especially Northern Europe) is so safe — safer than the U.S. — I wouldn’t give it a second thought.
I agree with PP. I'm leaning toward a two week summer vacation with my husband and two kids. Leaning toward Norway and Copenhagen (with a quick trip to the Lego House in Billund). I understand these countries are very expensive to visit, so I'm not yet 100% in. But weather and activity-wise, they seem to be good options.
I just looked into the Lego House in Billund and honestly it didn’t look that great? Mostly custom large lego sets like you’d see at one of the parks and then building areas where you can make something yourself. Didn’t really seem worth the trek from Copenhagen? Happy to be proven wrong!
