I'm leaning toward a two week summer vacation with my husband and two kids. Leaning toward Norway and Copenhagen (with a quick trip to the Lego House in Billund). I understand these countries are very expensive to visit, so I'm not yet 100% in. But weather and activity-wise, they seem to be good options.[/quote]

If you're used to DC prices, we didn't think Norway was any more expensive than that. Mainly the flights were the big price tag, but that's true for any destination these days.

Norway/Copenhagen is a great idea. 
I also like the Alaska suggestion. You could do one of those land/sea tours and also spend a few days in Vancouver. [/quote]
