Young people are usually still setting up their home, so maybe a Christmas cookie jar, rolling pin and cookie cutters? You could to a nice chef's knife and cutting board. Or a set of steak knives. Or an immersion blender and soup recipe book. Nice wine glasses from Crate and Barrel and a bottle of wine?
What? No. The Ugg slippers that OP's son suggested are perfect. I'm aghast at your sexist suggestions. And I cook and bake. But these seem a lot like gifts for this woman to serve/perform for OP's son.
Agast at wine glasses and steak knives? You're ridiculous. Young people are waiting longer to get married and don't want to drink wine out of plastic solo cups into their 30s and saw at their meat with dull knives. I'd buy these equally for a son or daughter. Heck, I got my brother cookie cutters and a rolling pin for Christmas a few years ago--he loves Christmas cookies. The Ugg slippers are fine too. I didn't see that decision until after I'd posted, but have there's no issues with nice things for their home.
