You could to a nice chef's knife and cutting board. Or a set of steak knives. Or an immersion blender and soup recipe book. Nice wine glasses from Crate and Barrel and a bottle of wine?
What? No. The Ugg slippers that OP's son suggested are perfect. I'm aghast at your sexist suggestions. And I cook and bake. But these seem a lot like gifts for this woman to serve/perform for OP's son.
Agast at wine glasses and steak knives? You're ridiculous. Young people are waiting longer to get married and don't want to drink wine out of plastic solo cups into their 30s and saw at their meat with dull knives.
I'd buy these equally for a son or daughter. Heck, I got my brother cookie cutters and a rolling pin for Christmas a few years ago--he loves Christmas cookies.
The Ugg slippers are fine too. I didn't see that decision until after I'd posted, but have there's no issues with nice things for their home.

Everything can be taken wrong way by woke culture but cooking stuff is more of a wedding, hostess or housewarming gift, not a Christmas or birthday gift for any gender.

These are not gifts for her as an individual. These would be gifts to the couple (including your son), for their home.
Yes and this harkens back to the Relationships thread about a DIL who never gets personalized presents from her MIL. Try to give her something for herself, not for her house.

Definitely not perfume and definitely not anything she can't take on a plane, if she's flying.
Yeah, I think the cashmere scarf or an Ugg or Barefoot Dreams blanket would be great options. Nothing like perfume.

Ended up with a nice pair of ugg slippers.
Good choice!
Talking to your son FTW! Congratulations on this new adventure in life, becoming a MiL. Choosing a gift based on a personal recommendation shows DIL you are seeing her as a person. Much nicer than an impersonal gift card.
