Where is this list/data from? And what is does Opportunity school mean?
I don't know what "opportunity" school means to the OP in general, but I like the concept of schools with easier admissions but strong outcomes. Though I generally don't guide my choices by magazine rankings, I think there's a lot to learn from them if you understand their criteria and compare it to your own. And I remember being very surprised that in the WSJ ranking, which heavily values ROI, the DMV schools in the top 40 were: Virginia Tech (19), Loyola Maryland (23), UDelaware (26), UVA (33), Towson (40). I think this makes Loyola MD, U Delaware, and Towson really interesting for this area - schools with relatively easy admission but whose graduates seem to do well. Personally, I think Delaware is majorly undervalued due to the sports not being as strong as some of the other flagships. And while, sure, sports add to the college experience, I think they are overvalued by prospective students.
