Of course they could be lying. Men are usually encouraged to portray themselves as more s*xually successful than they are, but it is always possible for someone to have had a normal/reasonable number of s*xual partners and not feel the need to lie about it. For a person that age, I'd actually say that 8 is a normal number of partners, particularly if they were sexually active prior to college. 8 partners over 20 years seems pretty normal.

Would also like to point out that while "body count" is absolutely the slang you're looking for here, it's a violent term usually applied to how many people a person or event has k*lled. Consider the implications of using that to describe number of s*xual partners. I personally think language like this contributes to the same culture that encourages everyone to lie about how many s*xual partners they've had.[/quote]
