DC had a teacher freshman year who routinely checked whether absences were excused or not when students went to arrange for make up work. If SIS said unexcused, she did not allow the make up. This is why, like a pp, I simply say “appointment” when DC is absent for any reason. I’m technically not lying by definition, and the attendance office is free to ask me for clarification if it finds that insufficient. [/quote]
