Why JMU? (just curious)
It's a good question. Wants large school with school spirit and we have a family friend who went there recently and had a good experience. I'm trying to steer her towards Towson too, but JMU checks a lot of boxes for her and us (not too far from home & she's outdoorsy). Obviously in-state in MD would be better financially, but anecdotally it seems JMU is good for students who may be a little beaten down from the W school grind. Interested in pre-vet (they have a minor that appeals to her) but I suspect that will change because science is not an academic strength.
I’m the poster who asked why. I have a kid, currently a 10th grader, who will likely have a similar profile as yours- and interestingly he is also interested in pre vet (but not particularly academically inclined). He wants a medium sized school, with school spirit but in the NE or Rockies (he’s very into the outdoors and an avid skier). We’ll need merit aid to afford much above in state at UMD. What other schools are on your list?
