The posted the standings last season for all age group. They also had the standing posted after the first week of league play but since has been removed. I understand the standings doesn't matter for U13 and U14 but curious as to why it was removed this season. I know this is going to open up the flood gate. I'm ready for all the snarky comments, bring it.
Because they are key developmental years and everyone is fixated on wins even if shitty soccer is being played to get those wins.
This is just false. Been around the soccer block for a while in club and seen a lot of higher level play at these age groups, and never seen a serious coach (or any for that matter) who only cares about winning. Even if you were to eliminate standings it would do absolutely zero to fix anything in youth soccer. From my own kids mouths, the problem with many coaches is they want all their players to play a certain way and give them a hard time when they make mistakes. So my kid isn't being criticized for not winning games, it's when they chose to try to beat the last defender and take a shot rather than make a pass. So then it gets in their head and they are afraid to ever go 1v1 because of the chance they fail and the coach reacts. This type of thing isn't about winning, it's about coaches wanting to control everything that goes on during the game.
