What did you do, where did you go? Considering it for December with an 11 and 8.5 yo.
We did a year and a half ago with a 7 and 9 yo. It was absolutely fabulous. We had a terrific time. We started in Cairo, did the pyramids. Then spent a could of nights in the White Desert, which was spectacular and the best part of the trip. We spent a day with a local family so our kids could hang with an average Egyptian family. We came back to Cairo and flew to Aswan. Then we cruised up the Nile to Luxor with the standard stops along the way. We did a sunrise hot air balloon flight above Luxor. Then we flew back to Cairo and did a couple of days exploring Cairo and the museums. We loved the trip. We hired private guides that were kid friendly and our kids learned a ton. There's a ton of accessible history and lots of immersive activities.
Thank you! I think I found a previous post and you had used Memphis Tours right? What were your ballpark costs and what did you ask for to get the above experiences?
Yes. I think our tour price for 4 people was about $12,000 including internal flights, but not the flight to Egypt. But we were part of a larger family group and we got our quote in 2022, so it's probably not super accurate now. December is the busy season, so if you're going to book, I'd do so very soon. Memphis will put together a tour from your list of wants, likely adjusting the schedule based on the boat schedule for the cruise. Just watch that they don't book you for stupid flight times (middle of the night), hotels that are very far from the airport and sights, and that it's clear whether you have a group or private tour/transfer for each part of your trip. You'll likely end up eating mediocre food at the hotel if you don't schedule a restaurant, so if you want them to set up dining, make sure it's included.
