We travel a ton, including the Middle East, and you definitely want tours/transportation taken care of in Egypt. It is not at all like visiting Dubai or Doha from an infrastructure standpoint.

This is like someone asking for info about Sweden and someone else saying we went to Norway and loved it! Um….okay.
Which wouldn't be a wholly inappropriate response imo. Sweden and Norway have a lot in common. Someone who is exploring Egypt as an option may in fact be reassured by someone traveling to Jordan.

We started in Cairo, did the pyramids. Then spent a could of nights in the White Desert, which was spectacular and the best part of the trip. We spent a day with a local family so our kids could hang with an average Egyptian family. We came back to Cairo and flew to Aswan. Then we cruised up the Nile to Luxor with the standard stops along the way. We did a sunrise hot air balloon flight above Luxor. Then we flew back to Cairo and did a couple of days exploring Cairo and the museums. We loved the trip.
We hired private guides that were kid friendly and our kids learned a ton. There's a ton of accessible history and lots of immersive activities.
DP - this was the $12k total trip organized through a tour company? Or am I confusing posters?

Those … are not the same countries, or even on the same continent.
+1…what a bizarre response (and implicitly racist) response.
?racist; Egypt is not sub-Saharan Africa

This isn’t really travel. It’s being handled and sheltered. You need to figure out things on your own. If you did more than throw money at any challenge in life, you’d be more savvy and never make a comparison between Doha and Cairo.
NP but I'd only want to do this being handled and sheltered. Sorry Egypt, some of your inhabitants ruined it for everyone.
Exactly. That poster is clearly jealous and has never been to Egypt. Why is it that the state department assigns off duty police and government officials to US tourists visiting through companies like this? It’s not for fun. Again, we travel extensively. Do we have lots of money? Yes? Sorry that depending on where we go, we use resources to make it as safe and enjoyable as possible.

So…recommendations for South Africa would have been more relevant? Are you sure about that?
Neither is remotely relevant. Just as it would be insane to respond to a post requesting travel tips for Ireland to respond with input on your trip to France or Greece.

Thank you! I think I found a previous post and you had used Memphis Tours right? What were your ballpark costs and what did you ask for to get the above experiences?
