At 53 and single, never married and childless, I have a ton less drama in my life than my peers of similar age.

However I do serve as an always sympathetic sounding board for family and friends who need to unload about the seemingly endless supply of disrespect, inconsideration, and exploitation being experienced by them from husbands and also too often from kids.

I still feel grief over having missed out; we are so deeply hardwired, most of us, to want marriage despite the glaringly clear evidence that it is not a net positive for women - at least not as presently constructed.

After menopause my feelings about men changed dramatically, and I felt almost embarrassed by how obviously my thinking had been hacked for decades by my hormones.

I understand why menopausal women often have dramatic personality changes - they are finally seeing the world free from the biological urges that blinded them to all the toxicity. And yes, often that means feeling angry at men and all the misogyny.

Sorry to say it but the mass of men leading lives of quiet desperation just continue to be selfish into aging - most even more, some a little less. [/quote]
