Probiotics and fermented foods can be helpful, but there are trillions of beneficial bacteria in your gut that not only plays a major roll in digestion, but also our immune systems, skin health, mental health, weight, hormone levels, and inflammation just to name a few. Scientists are only beginning to realize how much our gut biome effects our health. What they do know though, is that a healthy gut microbiome needs prebiotics or fiber to thrive and produce short chain fatty acids. When you only eat meat for an extended period of time you are essentially starving all those good bacteria. Your body doesn't need their help to break down meat so if you continue to just eat meat you should be fine, but it does need a healthy gut flora to break down everything else. That is why some people develop digestive issues after using antibiotics, usually they can rebuild the balance but when they can't they can develop all sorts of digestive and autoimmune issues.
