I’m 43 and my period came 2 weeks early the past 2 months. I can’t get in w my doctor until June but now I’m concerned to hear your doctor sent you for a sonogram. I figured cycles get wacky in perimenopause
OP here. Dr wanted to check for a uterine polyp and found nothing.
Drs always do this. They just want to bill your insurance, to be honest. This is why I stopped going to Drs in the US.
The Dr isn’t getting $$$ for the ultrasound but I think it’s defensive medicine. Basically, any bleeding that’s irregular they’ll send you for an US to look for issues with the uterine lining. I think they could do a better job communicating about these issues. They often also do an endo biopsy. It seems like the vast majority of the time it’s just perimenopause but they don’t have other tools. I’m 52 and cycles have been 17 days to 60 days, heavier, lighter, etc…it’s disconcerting no question.
