Were she born in the USA she'd be an all too common self loathing black female wanting to deny her black heritage. Not being US born she rejects those blacks who have the common experience of racial hatred. She's a convenient tool of the media and the party
So she's the wrong kind of black?
Seriously!
I don't think anyone is saying that. Merely that she cannot and will not appeal to many African-American voters because her experience is not one they uniformly share. Despite the advances of the black middle class, there are still too many blacks living in systemic poverty. I'm not here to reopen the debate on reasons why, merely providing a political analysis. Her experience is more in line with middle-class white Americans, and that is who they wanted her to speak to, to demonstrate (unconvicingly) that they are an "inclusive" party because they can trot out a few minorities. They'd convince me more if they could bring out scores of Catholic Hispanics, whose religious views make them more naturally sympathetic to Republican ideas about social issues, but there's no evidence that Hispanics are going for the party in droves because their line on immigration is so draconian. Today's Republicans make GWB look like a genius and a prophet where that issue is concerned.
