Algebra 1 isn't a "high school class". It's the next class in a sequence. You can take it whenever you are ready, and half of students take it in middle school.
False. Anyone who supports equity, inclusion, and diversity must also agree no student lower than 9th grade should be allowed to take algebra.
Not all school districts believe that. Superintendency Reid in FCPS, VA for example has a goal for all FCPS students to take Algebra 8th grade.
It is still a class taken for high school credit. I don’t know of any public high school districts that don’t consider algebra I a class you receive high school credit for, regardless when taken. It is also a credit that is mandatory for high school graduation
Yes, my post on Dr Reid was meant to only respond to above poster saying if believe in DEI then would not have kids take Algebra in MS. In most NOVA districts, it is a HS course that goes on transcript if take, but cannot speak to what schools do elsewhere and to mix it up, I am one that wishes kids could take it whenever they are ready and that only classes that take when IN high school would count on HS transcript.
