Wouldn't the local soccer world be a better place if girls travel soccer was run exclusively by ECNL and boys travel soccer run exclusively soccer MLS? (No GA, No Boys ECNL) It would be nice if the ECNL would place current GA teams into their appropriate tier of ECNL (ECNL R?). MLS needs a third tier below MLS Next (MLS R). The current boys ECNL clubs could vie for MLS next and MLS R spots. It probably will never happen in my lifetime but one can always dream.
MLS already has a tier below MLS NEXT, it's NAL where the MLSN have their second teams play.
MLSN and NAL are completely separate leagues. The reason MLSN clubs put their 2nd team in NAL is because ECNL won't allow clubs to make boys ECNL teams 2nd behind MLSN. Clubs that have done this in the past get girls ECNL taken away or boys ECNL taken away the following season. Tell me again how ECNL is the "solution" and not the problem. Purely from a business perspective what ECNL is doing is illegal. Imagine if Hulu ever discovered that you had Disney+ that they'd drop your subscription. Or imagine of you wanted Netflix (girls ECNL) you have to buy Hulu (boys ECNL). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tying_(commerce)#:~:text=Tying%20(informally%2C%20product%20tying),a%20different%20product%20or%20service.
No idea what's going on with the formatting. The more you know about youth soccer and leagues the less you want to know. It's confusing and stupid. The problem is many people don't care about the details, history, and background. They just go after what the internet knuckleheads view the "best" which they primarily define by wins. Unfortunately for the kids going for wins over everything else rewards the early developers and hurts skills development for everyone because of defined positions.
There was an old commercial that said, "An educated consumer is our best customer" This horrible pay-to-play environment filled with parents chasing after the Jones's and chasing labels and worthless medals/trophies is all because of the vast collective ignorance. So there's no end in sight. The few who know and care to learn will continue to develop the few quality players.
