Op here. We decide to go to ocean city that weekend. We are not really beach family, but kids want to play with sand and find seashell. They want to get in water or splash in water for little bit. They can't swim. We don't want to cook, and kids have never been to any beach. We want to walk on boardwalk, all eat out, do kid things, eat ice cream, maybe play arcade etc. Any suggestions where to stay. We prefer hotel for convenience and no need to drive too much around for eating places and hang around. DH has not been back to OC since almost 15 years ago, and I have never been OC. Any suggestions?
I would recommend Rehoboth then. You park your car once and no driving. If you don't need high end and aren't too picky, Brighton Suites hotel is a block from the beach (but a long block), has pool chairs and beach towels you can use, and is a full suite to your kids can go to bed earlier than you. And it has a small indoor pool so they can get in the water there if the ocean is too cold. The boardwalk is about 5 blocks and it has Funland, which is a tiny amusement park/arcade perfect for the 3-5 year old set, it has mostly little kiddie rides. In addition to the boardwalk there are tons of family restaurants (and cute shops) on the main street. And in June you won't get the huge crowds you get in July/August.
