Upper ES teachers told the primary teachers they couldn't read the work kids were producing, and suddenly handwriting worksheets appeared. May have been the case that MS/HS were partially behind the push. Although I will say in Virginia it was the northern VA NAACPs that got state-wide phonics bills across the line and school boards on board.[/quote] at ours they taught typing by 3rd so handwriting was never an issue[/quote]
