my son played one year and there was literally snow on the field and they were begging it to be cancelled. several kids subbed out of a game, went to their car, and never came back. my kid ended up with a mild case of frostbite, his fingers were either painful or almost numb for quite awhile. all this to say, they try very very hard to never cancel or have to give any money back!
Kids should be able to play in cold and wet conditions but they need to be prepared with proper gear. Gloves, under armour, extra dry gear, etc. Kids play in these conditions all the time.
+100
Kids take cues from their parents. If parents are complaining about how cold it is, how it’s dangerous to be playing, and keep calling attention to staying warm, kids will say the same things. Give them the gear they need and treat like it’s no big deal (it’s really not) and kids will adjust
