You are squarely in the conservative christian/tea party wing of the Republican party.  I'll leave that to others to tell you if that is part of the "smart" party the OP advocates.  [/quote]

On the contrary, all of the following things are the opposite of Repub party positions on these topics:

anti-gun control
pro-environment
pro-animal rights
anti-capital punishme[/quote]  As a PP noted, many evangelicals are both anti capital punishment (give them points for consistency) and pro-environment.  Not sure how being against gun control could be considered anything but a Republican position.  And the day animal rights swings more than 100 votes in a presidential election, I'll give up veal.
