So a friend of mine in a Boston suburb has this for a half day every Weds. Public school btw. She loves this, and says it's really good for her 2 kids (teens) to plan things out during this half day. They use the time for projects, studying for tests, group meetings,  etc. you can also go for office hours with teachers then. [/quote]

Exactly - at the high school level, this asynchronous day will serve as a great way for students to catch up on independent work, period.  Those who think kids will have to tackle all kinds of additional complicated assignments are probably incorrect.  In most courses, students will be asked to follow the lessons posted in Canvas as they would have in the building or will be asked to review concepts learned in class.  [/quote]

Most high schoolers will not diligently and responsibly keep up with assignments. They will be hanging out with friends and at best, do whatever busy work was assigned to them at the end of the day before they go to bed, if they even bother to do it at all.[/quote]
