Risk of noise. A lockdown usually entails total quiet and a text back might result in an audible ping or buzz. It’s literally a life saving tactic. [/quote]

That and kids need to be focused on their environment and on silent signals then adults may be giving.

Plus kids trying to get to their phones can slow down the process of kids moving to safety.

If your kid texted you during a lockdown please hug them and tell them you love them and remind them never to do that again.  [/quote]
