All three play high school soccer. In the spring, one was second-team All-Met and another was honorable mention (granted, both sophomores, but another sophomore made the first team). In the fall, one was honorable mention All-Met as a junior. Is this all a fluke of age-grouping, or is All-Met not quite plugged into things? Or has the USSF scouting department overlooked a couple dozen superior players in the DMV alone? Congrats to all three, in any case. One has signed to play for my Bulldogs. (Well, where I grew up -- can't really say "my" if I didn't go to school there, I guess.)
Politics and money got these three chosen.
Does that go for the other 20 players chosen too?
Probably for many of them. There's a reason for a huge turnover in rosters for USNT players in the college years....
That is silly.
DP college is amateur part time soccer. It is a path way to nothing.
Soccer for girls in the US is a pathway to college. Which in turn is a pathway for life. Almost all soccer girls could care less about playing pro or for the national team. Sure they would do the national team if they could but almost all are realistic. Even from a young age.
