Your son is a male. CMU takes females with lesser credentials. She could also be coming from a title 1 type of school from rural frederick and your DS could be a student in a magnet STEM program in MoCo.  [/quote]
LOL how did you know.  I was just trying to set the expectation of the caliber for her classmates.  ED seems like a mistake in this situation but that's my opinion.  She should visit and make sure she understands the program fully. [/quote]

I read that also but was wondering why they have ED2 then. DD has applied UMD too but would be OOS for us if she get in.
Did your son apply ED or RD? I was wondering if that made any difference.

RD.  We attended multiple information sessions at CMU and also emailed admissions just to be 100% sure.  They explicitly stated that there was NO admissions advantage to ED.

He is on a scholarship at UMD, which is another reason we did not want to ED since that was also a top choice. [/quote][/quote]
