There has always been something so offputting about her to me and I could never figure out what it is.
Say the quiet part out loud. She's not conventionally attractive, and you think she shouldn't have the audacity to be on tv
NP. I think she is conventionally attractive, just not "TV actress" attractive. If I saw a woman who looked like her on the street, I'd think she was attractive. But Hollywood has a much higher bar. However, this is true of MANY former child stars who continue working into middle age -- they were cast as cute kids and then they grow up to be normal looking adults. But if they can avoid some of the pitfalls of being a child star, they can continue to work because of connections and skill, especially in TV where there is real value in having experience on a hit show and understanding the grind and also how to do the non-creative aspects of your job well. The truth is that she has starred on two hit network sitcoms and was the lead on a third that, while not a hit, did get picked up for subsequent seasons. She continues to work in Hollywood as a middle aged actress who is not stunningly beautiful and has okay but not amazing comedic acting skills. No one needs to feel sorry for Mayim Bialik. She's fine.
