Adams is a great mayor. He’s just a victim of the post-COVID blues, racism and Republicans trying to give him the Newsom treatment and keep him from becoming a presidential contender.

New York went through hell during the retail apocalypse, COVID-19, the BLM riots and the Red states weaponizing refugees.

Work from home has been really hard on midtown Manhattan. Herald Square, for example, needs some love.

But, overall, New York is safe, orderly and fun. The trash gets picked up. The many gorgeous playgrounds are in good shape.

The traffic can move slowly, but it’s always moving; it’s never really stuck.

I commute home late at night and never have a problem. The police seem to be much more polite and professional than in neighboring communities.

I read about problems with managing the flow of refugees, but I work a few blocks away from where a lot of them are supposed to be and have never seen anyone who looks like a newly arrived or troublesome refugee, so, the city seems to be handling that well.

I’m near a street with a lot of pro Gaza and pro Israel demonstrations, and the police are managing those well.

I hardly see anyone on the streets of New York who seems like a sober, sane, easy-to-help homeless person, or anyone on the streets who’s doing anything more aggressive than asking for change, so the city seems to be doing a decent job of helping the homeless, under the circumstances.

Adams didn’t come in with the huge publicity machines that Giuliani or Bloomberg had, but he seems to be doing a better job of having a voice than de Blasio did. I barely heard about de Blasio till he ran for president.

Whenever Adams speaks, he says something sane and moderate. I think he should have done a better job of helping border states get funding for helping asylum speakers, for example, but I don’t see him making public, personal attacks on people like DeSantis or anyone else.

I see Adams facing a lot of attacks online, but I don’t really see anyone identifying anything he’s actually done wrong or suggesting anything practical that he should do that he’s not already trying to do. Maybe he’ll turn out to be a pawn of Turkey, but it’s not clear why it actually even matters, at this point in his career, if he’s a pawn of Turkey.

The critics are mostly just hating on him because they feel anxious or depressed, hate hearing someone speak with a Black English accent, are parroting what the social media shills are saying or are part of some kind of organized campaign to tear him down.
