Imagine still believing elections matter. The entire machine and media backed this idiot and they all knew he didn’t even live in the city. And they’ll back the next puppet when they’re through with him. Rinse repeat.

Wow. The gaslighting is amazing.

Wow. The projection is amazing. You are aware the coyotes are cutting holes in the wall for migrants to pass through.

Often wrong, never in doubt. Classic.

Sorry OP, I thought he was the worst of a decent lot, thankfully he won’t get re-elected. His approval rating is at 28% — the lowest ever recorded for a NYC mayor.

who is approving of him? the trash piles? the empty syringes? can't think of anything in the city left to support that ass-clown.

I moved to NY at the height of the crack epidemic. It's better here now than it was then. You must have moved here recently.

The campaign finance probe will turn into nothing major. He likes to party in NYC? Where are my pearls to clutch? I think the criticisms of him are largely overblown. He uses all the tools in the tool box and takes the job seriously. He's actually pretty responsive. Lived in NYC all of my life. It always has numerous fires to manage. Kathryn Garcia wasn't doing more that he's done. You just like her more.

Then, why did Adams say he wanted her as his second in command? I wasn't asking you to find your pearls, but just presenting some criticism.

I have no idea what Adams is like as a person or a boss. If I could have voted in the mayoral race, I would have voted for Kathryn Garcia, the sanitation official.

Adams is a great mayor. He’s just a victim of the post-COVID blues, racism and Republicans trying to give him the Newsom treatment and keep him from becoming a presidential contender.

New York went through hell during the retail apocalypse, COVID-19, the BLM riots and the Red states weaponizing refugees.

Work from home has been really hard on midtown Manhattan. Herald Square, for example, needs some love.

But, overall, New York is safe, orderly and fun. The trash gets picked up. The many gorgeous playgrounds are in good shape.

The traffic can move slowly, but it’s always moving; it’s never really stuck.

I commute home late at night and never have a problem. The police seem to be much more polite and professional than in neighboring communities.

I read about problems with managing the flow of refugees, but I work a few blocks away from where a lot of them are supposed to be and have never seen anyone who looks like a newly arrived or troublesome refugee, so, the city seems to be handling that well.

I’m near a street with a lot of pro Gaza and pro Israel demonstrations, and the police are managing those well.

I hardly see anyone on the streets of New York who seems like a sober, sane, easy-to-help homeless person, or anyone on the streets who’s doing anything more aggressive than asking for change, so the city seems to be doing a decent job of helping the homeless, under the circumstances.

Adams didn’t come in with the huge publicity machines that Giuliani or Bloomberg had, but he seems to be doing a better job of having a voice than de Blasio did. I barely heard about de Blasio till he ran for president.

Whenever Adams speaks, he says something sane and moderate. I think he should have done a better job of helping border states get funding for helping asylum speakers, for example, but I don’t see him making public, personal attacks on people like DeSantis or anyone else.

I see Adams facing a lot of attacks online, but I don’t really see anyone identifying anything he’s actually done wrong or suggesting anything practical that he should do that he’s not already trying to do. Maybe he’ll turn out to be a pawn of Turkey, but it’s not clear why it actually even matters, at this point in his career, if he’s a pawn of Turkey.

The critics are mostly just hating on him because they feel anxious or depressed, hate hearing someone speak with a Black English accent, are parroting what the social media shills are saying or are part of some kind of organized campaign to tear him down.

ITA with all. People always seem to confuse the problem with the person managing the problem. People are mad at him for the migrant crisis, but not mad at the Congressional Republicans who refuse to address the issue? From what I can tell, he's done what every other mayor would do and more. He addressed the issue on the ground within the confines of the law HE HAS TO FOLLOW. He went to DC to BEG for additional federal funding. He went to Mexico, Ecuador and Columbia to speak to assess the crises from the other end. He sued the state for its Sanctuary City status. He cannot solve the US's migrant crisis, nor can he put military guards around NYC. People are delusional about Kathryn Garcia. The mayor is not a magician. She would have pulled the same levers.

You need to call the police and press charges.

That said, both the homeless and migrant situation (and the lingering effects of Covid) are not his fault. As long as cities continue to be seen as acceptable for open air insane asylums, as long as the GOP keeps cutting taxes/milking the migrant issue while not actually doing anything about it, we'll still have these problems. And Covid happened on Trump's watch.

but the homeless and migrant situation IS the mayor's responsibility.
Literally the definition of the job to deal with this stuff.

But we've had homeless issues for decades. The Federal Government has not update immigration policy for decades. You treat this stuff like it's happening in a vacuum. It isn't.
