I think a lot of that has to do with the powers that be though, and also just women being kind of more realistic and less delusional than men.  Women in their 40s, the "minivan majority", have generally understood that super young men are going to be mostly checking for women their own age (although that seems to be rapidly changing atm).  So they dont want to fantasize about the 21 year old, and they'd rather look at photos of Ryan Reynolds or Jason Momoa, because theyre the same age. It's a fantasy of who you could pair yourself with. I dont think men are burdened by ideas of what is realistic for them, so they just fantasize about women who would never glance twice at them anyway, no matter how much younger.

I don't fantasize about 21 year olds because as I get older, that's closer and closer to my kids' ages.  Gross!  To me that is not someone who can be my peer (outside of work I guess?) or lover.[/quote]
