You need to tailor your resume for each job you apply. Highlight the areas that match the job posting to ensure you are getting through screening software. Go to a placement agency, let them find you a temp to hire position now so that you can get insurance once you are perm.
This was my first thought. OP it sounds like you have a ton of practical skills that you developed throughout your career, but you may not have had much experience in polishing a more "professional" presentation. And I say that with air quotes because I think it's a lot of BS and fake smiles, but it's how the game is played. It might be worth paying to have your resume professionally edited, and I agree 100% that you need to tailor it to the job you are applying for. Also your school/preschool should have before and after care, and you should be getting some child support. Outsource the childcare flexibility issue so you can focus on stabilizing your career. Do not under any circumstances mention it during the hiring process.
