One wildcard that could become a major issue is if the economy rolls over. Right now, even with interest rates being high and hopefully inflation behind us, Biden is polling poorly on the economy at 3.9% unemployment. If the rate hikes lead to a recession next year, god help us. It'll be a disaster for him.
Americans are hooked on cheap debt. With 7.5% mortgage rates, a lot of Millennials simply have no hope of home ownership or a better life. So I think you're seeing a lot of despondency right now in the polls - people may have jobs and even make good money, but they can't get ahead of the curve on home ownership. It's a fading mirage for Millennials who need a house within an hour of their jobs and a baby on the way. And god forbid you're low income in this economy - inflation is killing you and housing situations grow more precarious by the day.
