Top college teams like Duke/UVA add from 5 to 8-ish new players every year. Every one of them was probably the best player from their ECNL/GA team, but in college they are just one of dozens. The level of play going from club to top college is a big step up. Just making it to the roster is a real accomplishment. There are NFL players who never see the field but they are still impressive, elite players. Someone needs to ride the bench on every team.
Lol no it is not. Go watch them play. As for playing time freshmen are lucky to get a few minutes in a blowout. If you are a junior or senior getting zero minutes it is really time to question what you are doing.
The level of soccer is the same. The level of the players is certainly better. In a typical ECNL team, a few might eventually play for a power 5 D1 school. For really good club teams, maybe a few more. On the top college teams, every one of their players was one of the few standouts from the club teams, making the college teams like all star teams of the best players from club. This does not make the soccer level better, but it does mean all of their players are individually the best athletes and club players. The college game has faster and more physical players than club. In that aspect it is higher level
