I feel like I am voting strictly on personality, which isn't great, but the difference between Ashton and Pierzchala is striking. At the King Farm candidate's forum, he started arguing with a member of the audience. (This wasn't one of the City-sponsored forums.) Ashton has always been eloquent and polite (in my observation, at least). I watched a City meeting earlier this year and Pierzchala dismissed another council member (Feinberg) who pointed out his memory was incorrect on a vote ("We all voted for it."). Feinberg said she was absent from that meeting and she did not vote in favor. When he knew she was correct, his response was a snarky & dismissive "Well, whatever." I think this is when the Council was discussing the various changes proposed by the Charter review. I've been following Ashton for a few years, back when she was cluster rep for the RM cluster, and she has always been polished. I know personality alone shouldn't drive my decision, but I cannot stand Pierzchala.
I was the same way - Pierzchala was offputting to me. I've not voted for him in every previous election. But Ashton lost my vote when she wouldn't take a stance on any of the ballot initiatives.
