They don't have to be overly punitive consequences. A person doesn't need 20 years in jail for carrying an illegal gun. But they may think twice if they know they will immediately get 3 months in jail. Not wait 18 months - 2 years for trial, out on recognizance. The only thing they suffered for carrying a gun was a few hours getting processed, and then back out on the street. Vote for people who know this.[/quote]
