[/quote] It does help with weight loss in many people. It is recommended by the American diabetes association for prevention of progression to diabetes in people who are prediabetic. In my personal experience, it lowered my weight set point by 10 pounds. I couldn’t lose weight until I started metformin, and afterward I easily dropped 10 pounds. (My BMI went from 24 to 22.) I had fatty liver as part of my metabolic syndrome prior to taking metformin, and it resolved after I lost the weight. [/quote]
