How are schools around old town Herndon? I live in DC but am here for a meeting today, and it's cute! We've been considering a move to Montgomery County, but I kind of like it here.
The downtown Herndon is nice but elementary and middle schools are not good. HHS is OK. Many UMC families there send their kids to private (St Joseph is in the middle of town and not expensive). If you like downtown Herndon, check out downtown Vienna.
Please explain what isn’t good about HES and HMS. And as a member of SJC, I had to guffaw at UMC sending their kids to the school there. I have several friends with kids there. The reasons for going there have less to do about the local publics per se. It is more about involving them more deeply in a Catholic community. It wouldn’t matter if they lived in Langley or McLean pyramids. They would still send their kids to a parochial school. My kids have been in the Herndon/Herndon/Herndon schools since K and have plenty of SJC friends — several of which are now at Herndon HS and not PVI or O’Connell. And their reasons are not financial.
What are their reasons?
As I stated above, it is because they want their kids to develop a deeper sense of belonging to a Catholic community and gaining a sense of Catholic culture.
