Please explain what isn’t good about HES and HMS. And as a member of SJC, I had to guffaw at UMC sending their kids to the school there. I have several friends with kids there. It wouldn’t matter if they lived in Langley or McLean pyramids. They would still send their kids to a parochial school. My kids have been in the Herndon/Herndon/Herndon schools since K and have plenty of SJC friends — several of which are now at Herndon HS and not PVI or O’Connell. And their reasons are not financial.
Look at a school safety report card and compare with other schools. Here is one for HMS:

I think SJS is more popular than other parochial schools in that area for a reason.

Sorry, but we are zoned for all three of those and it’s great. We can walk to restaurants, library, banks, grocery store, concerts on the town green, parks, W&OD trail, golf course, etc., and bike to Reston Town Center and Metro.
My kids love being able to move around here. I miss being in and closer to DC but this was a good compromise. I would not be happy in a place like 20170 or Reston outside RTC and Reston Association because the endless subdivisions make me claustrophobic.

+1, I’ve taught at one of these schools - it was not good. When 3/4ths of the class is 2 grades below. it is almost impossible to teach on grade level material.

Sorry. They wanted to provide a good foundation in Catholic culture/ community. They don’t necessarily see the benefits of Catholic high outweighing the costs especially given anticipated future college costs. Also, since many of the kids may land up at public colleges, they figure getting exposure to that environment while still living at home is better than experiencing it (far) away from home. At least with a teen at home you can help kids navigate certain situations, which may happen on a much smaller scale or less frequently at a parochial school where there are more consequences.

FCC is not a “cute town” at all, nor is the feel at all like Old Town Herndon.
Right? FCC is turning into Clarendon.
It now feels more claustrophobic than Clarendon. Definitely not “cute.”

One of the Herndon residents here — I lived in FCC for 15 years and loved the proximity to DC. However, I hated how cavernous the city became. I’m good with some high density housing but the newer, taller buildings are too close to the road now and it lost the charm it had. I hope the same doesn’t happen to Herndon. The other thing that I like about Herndon is the economic diversity which FCC lost.
