Have you had neurotesting done? There may be reasons why some of these subjects don’t come easily.
There are, for sure. Unfortunately there is very little that can be done to make math and science come easier to a kid with a math disability, for example. Remediation helps, but in general it won’t enable a kid to love what he previously hated.
But there are many reasons why we gravitate towards some things and dislike others and may not know why. If your son is dyslexic he will shy away from subjects that require reading. My own DW rarely read for pleasure but it wasn’t it tested as an adult did she learn that she had a genetic problem with reading (not dyslexia) that made reading tiring. Testing for us elucidated homework problems one child was having - she had a very high IQ but very low processing speed. Homework took forever and wasn’t a pleasurable task.My ADHD kid can’t write papers because she cannot organize the paper -or even what she wants to say-in her head. And so on. Finding out that she was gifted but slow explained her frustration and dislike of much of school. We moved her to a more understanding school and she became a much happier and successful student
