I don't think the FBI has the authority to tell private citizens that they can't make up lies and spread them around the internet. That's 1A. I think it's really despicable that the former intelligence officers did that, but they were within their legal rights and the FBI wouldn't have the authority to stop them. Nor do I want the FBI to have that authority. [/quote]

Let them circulate the letter and show how ignorant they are.  But, the FBI should have absolutely made a statement that the letter was not accurate.
