I have also worked for several administrations and I think you did not read OP's comment. The Republican party these days is nothing like the Republican party of Bush and prior Republican administrations.  Donald Trump politicized the issue of civil service, which is a huge distractions for public servants like us who just want to work hard and go home at the end of the day.
