[/quote] I have kids in middle school, and it is quite safe to walk around. My kids walk to school, to their friends' houses, to parks (there are lots), and to the shops in Downtown Takoma and the Takoma Junction. They are out and about all the time. They also ride bikes, although it is more difficult here because of the hills, but they do. I would be a little more nervous if they walked around a lot after dark, but more so because of the cars than worries about being shot or mugged or something.[/quote]
