PPs who said arts electives can't get the bump on the GPA are not correct.  In many (most? all?) schools, the first arts class you take won't be honors, but at our school, at least, the follow-on classes DO get the bump (they may not have 'honors' in the title, but "Advanced ceramics" is coded as an 'advanced' class that also gets the bump).

The main exception to the intro-arts classes not having the bump is that you can take AP Art History to fulfill that requirement.

Incidentally, this is all just a silly game.  The PP's who said it doesn't matter are also correct-- on the common app, kids will enter their transcripts class-by-class, and schools reorganize the data the way they want.  It seems like most probably drop PE, etc. from GPA, but who knows... every school makes their own choice and they don't publicize what it is.[/quote]
