What is weighted GPA used for?
USNWR rankings don't use them.
College AOs look for "rigor" but that doesn't necessarily mean WGPA.
Surely AOs who want 'well rounded students" understand that arts and sports are not honors academics.

So yes, 5.0 weighted GPA is not possible, and no one cares. A 4.0 unweighted GPA is the "perfect" number. Of course, you can take a non-rigorous schedule and get a 4.0 GPA or you can take a rigorous one.
Why are we focused on GPAs so much here on Independence Day?

Do you really think colleges are looking for “Honors” PE? What would that even entail? Running 2 miles/day instead of the standard one? Writing research papers on the history of sit-ups?
Or it could be a class in things like Kinesiology or Seminar on history of aging health practices, etc. PE(Physical Education) doesn’t just have to be kid running around.

This thread is why you can't really rely on DCUM for accurate information. Always trust, but verify.
Pps who said said that PE *is* figured into GPA are correct (despite the seeming confidence of those who said otherwise).
PPs who said arts electives can't get the bump on the GPA are not correct. In many (most? all?) schools, the first arts class you take won't be honors, but at our school, at least, the follow-on classes DO get the bump (they may not have 'honors' in the title, but "Advanced ceramics" is coded as an 'advanced' class that also gets the bump).
The main exception to the intro-arts classes not having the bump is that you can take AP Art History to fulfill that requirement.
Incidentally, this is all just a silly game. The PP's who said it doesn't matter are also correct-- on the common app, kids will enter their transcripts class-by-class, and schools reorganize the data the way they want. It seems like most probably drop PE, etc. from GPA, but who knows... every school makes their own choice and they don't publicize what it is.
