My son went through a phase of trying to call me by my first name. I told him ANYONE can call me that, but only my children get the privilege of calling me mom. He came back to the kitchen the next morning calling me mom. It was like two days.
That's so sweet. My DCs usually call us Mom and Dad. If they wanted to call us by our first names I wouldn't have a problem with it. It wouldn't make me less of a parent or change how I parent them. I don't think it's disrespectful for a family member to call me by my name (even a younger family member). My main goal was just to make sure they knew our first names so they could find us if lost in a crowd or something.
