It’s annoying. Not everything has to come back to your dog. Not every conversation needs to involve some stupid anecdote about your dog. And no, I don’t insert my kids into every conversation, I don’t shove my phone in people’s face to make them look at my kids, I don’t tell kid anecdotes each and every time I see people, etc.

And I fully recognize that there are some obnoxious parents who do that kind of crap. Whether it’s about animals or kids, that kind of behavior is annoying.

There are dog owners and then there are #dogmoms. Just like there are normal parents and then there are, like, #boymoms.[/quote]  I'm trying to understand how you jumped to the conclusion that she doesen't care.  If she didn't care she'd probably just say "oh, ok" and then change the subject.  Now I agree that there is no comparison between being a mother and a pet owner, however, I think in her mind she was trying to connect and commiserate with you. I get it, it's not the same but I don't see how this means she doesen't care or had ill intent.  And no, I'm not a "dog mom", I've never owned a dog.[/quote]

Because she honestly listened to me for 10 seconds, then proceeded to talk for 10 minutes about her damn dog and how wooooorrrriiiiied and sleeeplesss she was when her dog was (mildly) sick. You can tell when people are finding an excuse to talk about themselves, you just can.[/quote]
