Exactly. That’s the only time anyone actually takes issue with the term

I know someone who is able to sneak a dog on a plane by disguising it as a real baby. Stroller, baby, Bjorn, bonnet, etc..

I have no issue with "dog moms" and am an animal lover -- I have a few friends who have pets and no kids and dote on their pets and I like their pets and am happy for them. I can't imagine the subject of "dog moms" being a hot topic among parents? It's weird. I also know a lot of families with dogs, plus we have a cat who I dote on all the time.

Having said all that, some dog owners are really obnoxious. But it's not universal. There are also some moms of actual children who are very obnoxious.

The only time it irritates me is when sister-in-law compares herself being a dog mom to being a real mom. (“yeah it’s so hard when DH is out of town and I’m a single dog mom”). I just want to say, do you hear yourself talking?

I have zero problems with it… If you’re referring to all the memes of guys making fun of dating site profiles were the girl calls herself a dog mom, I can’t say. The only time I roll my eyes is when someone who has a dog says thing indicating they think having a dog is in any way like having a child. Mostly people just kind of feel bad for people who identify as “dog moms”

A dog is far harder than a kid. I had no idea how much work a dog was.

What is wrong with a stroller. We have one for our dog. You sound pretty petty. Part of it is social for her. Our dog gets walked multiple times a day.

It’s mostly annoying when dog moms or dads say “it’s like having a child!” (When they do not have kids). It’s like, dude, it is absolutely not and don’t you dare compare having a pet to having a child. The ignorance but pretending to be understanding is the worst part.

I'm trying to understand how you jumped to the conclusion that she doesen't care. If she didn't care she'd probably just say "oh, ok" and then change the subject. Now I agree that there is no comparison between being a mother and a pet owner, however, I think in her mind she was trying to connect and commiserate with you. I get it, it's not the same but I don't see how this means she doesen't care or had ill intent. And no, I'm not a "dog mom", I've never owned a dog.

Because she honestly listened to me for 10 seconds, then proceeded to talk for 10 minutes about her damn dog and how wooooorrrriiiiied and sleeeplesss she was when her dog was (mildly) sick. You can tell when people are finding an excuse to talk about themselves, you just can.

I’m with you, OP. I love dogs but do not want one in a million years. I don’t care if some people want to spoil their dogs more than I do my actual human kids or call themselves dog moms. If they’re annoying or inconsiderate people, I figure that’s a personality flaw that has nothing to do with their parental (or pet parental) status. They’d undoubtedly be just as annoying if they kept orchids or collected stamps or ran marathons.

ya'll worry about the weirdest things. I'm a new dog owner at 52; I have two kids that are young adults. I will never refer to myself as a 'dog mom' but IDGAF if anyone else does.
