Weird equity issue for LCPS to auto-cut kids not available during the summer. It isn’t the school year. What if a kid has a summer job. Have food to eat or tryout for a team? Harsh reality for some. (Understand that is not OP’s issue). Also, dates may be “well known” but do not seem to be posted at present. Bad system to punish kids who aren’t “in the know.”
It's sports, not math. it's a nice-to-have, and its value is going to come from its quality. You want a top team? You need to do tryouts early so you can get focused on practices and skills.
I guess I don't care that much? Imagine if schools spent this level of effort on academics, which is you know, THE WHOLE POINT OF SCHOOL. I would love for schools to adapt the kind of rigor put into sports teams into kids' learning.
Are you insane? Schools DO put this much effort into academics. Unfortunately most of the effort does go towards "equity." Schools can't "cut" the kids who are way behind and just can't cut it. Sports can. Like PP said, sports is not an entitlement like free education.
