It actually isn't a stupid idea for girls.  Many do this or pregame in college to avoid getting drugged and raped - which happens much more than you think.

I hadnt thought about the benefits. I feel like my boys started this in HS, though the name is new to me. (Not proud of it, but our reality). But my youngest hasn’t hit the drinking stage yet and I haven’t really talked to her about protecting herself at parties. Thanks for the reminder. [/quote]
