I have never tipped any sitter or nanny, ever. Please don't start this! Tipping culture is already way out of control. I pay them a fair rate and (if a long-term nanny) provide bonus/severance/days off.
Wow.... You should probably tread lightly with statements like this.... what is a fair rate? Can you live off of the wage you pay your nanny? (probably not) so dont every say that what you give out for the care of your child is a fare rate....fare rate to who? Now it may be what the nanny or babysitter charges because the INDUSTRY itself hasnt given us an appropriate raise. I am appalled by some of the low rates families are asking nannies to work for. Some are asking them to deal with a lot for a little. Any and All service industries deserve tips. Why would you give a server a tip for doing his job well but wouldn't consider giving a tip to someone who is caring for your Seed/Child you birthed? Chew on that. By making this statement you have basically said that you value others more than a nanny/babysitter. If you feel tipping culture is out of control then you should contribute to the discussions in congress to make sure wages are appropriate for such service jobs you dont feel deserve a t
