Fly. And he didn’t. Likely, when the co-pilot left the cockpit for something, the pilot put on his oxygen mask and turned off the plane’s oxygen supply. Everyone else was unconscious in seconds. The pilot eventually ran out of oxygen, and the plane cruised until it crashed.

Everyone should read the 2019 Atlantic article which is very thorough and good.

The data would leave one to believe that yes, he did kill everyone on the flight quickly by rapidly ascending to 40,000 feet, around the time he made the turn south and de-pressurizing the cabin. He may have worn his oxygen mask (which would sustain him for hours, unlike passengers' which only work for 15-20 minutes) or re-pressurized the cabin.

Also, the data show that the plane did not glide down but nose-dived into the ocean (which would have been done by a person, not by running out of fuel), essentially turning it to confetti. This is why there's so little debris.[/quote]
